MASSEY UNIVERSITY FOOD AWARDS

Country Culinaire has been the winner of two prestigious Massey University Food Awards, for the last two Award years. The Awards were created by Professor Mary Earle in the mid 1980s and are held biennially and recognise innovation excellence. They have grown in strength over the last two decades and have become a highly sought after accolade within the New Zealand food industry.

Country Culinaire has had repeated success at the prestigious Awards in 2004 and 2006, winning the category Awards in Gourmet Food and Packaging Design. In 2004 success was enjoyed with the Pavlova Roulades and in 2006, with the Sticky Date Pudding. The Awards are a reflection of the quality and passion that Country Culinaire has for exquisite, country-style home cooked desserts.

This is what the Judges had to say:

Developed for the winter market to extend their already very successful summer range of desserts. Sticky Date Pudding is designed to provide time poor food lovers who want a top quality pre-prepared dessert with "home made" character and taste. The judges were highly impressed with the excellent flavour palate as well as the ability of the product to retain its highly edible quality after having been twice baked.

AJ Park Packaging Design Award

Country Culinaire Frozen Pavlova Roulades
Raspberry, Feijoa, Coffee & Hazelnut, Lemon & Lime, Chocolate Mousse and Passionfruit.
Judges Comments:

Country Culinaire has designed a sturdy, simple package which maintains the integrity of a relatively fragile product during distribution and although cardboard, is not affected by dew that may form during thawing for consumption. The graphic design is quite sophisticated.

July 2004 edition:

"(The New Zealand entry in this category was an amazing frozen dessert – a pavlova roulade – from Hasting’s–based Country Culinaire.
